ST. PAUL — A man was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in the city’s Frogtown neighborhood, and a suspect was taken into custody after fleeing the scene in a vehicle that later crashed nearby.
At approximately 1:40 a.m. on Nov. 30, Saint Paul Police responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex on the 700 block of North Victoria Street. Officers found an adult male suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Police began life-saving measures until medics from the Saint Paul Fire Department arrived. The victim was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
While officers were arriving, a vehicle was observed leaving the scene at high speed. The car crashed a short distance away on the 700 block of Englewood Avenue. The driver, an adult male believed to be the shooting suspect, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Regions Hospital. After receiving treatment, he was released and taken into police custody.

Saint Paul Police homicide investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to confirm the victim’s identity and determine the official cause of death. Police said any updates, including the victim’s name, will be posted on the department’s Twitter account, @sppdmn.
This is the 12th homicide in Saint Paul so far in 2025.
Frogtown, also known as Thomas-Dale, is a longtime working-class neighborhood celebrated for its cultural diversity, small businesses, and community initiatives. Like much of Saint Paul, it has faced challenges with violent crime, which residents say erodes trust and safety in the neighborhood.
Police say they are gathering evidence, including eyewitness accounts, surveillance footage, and ballistics, to reconstruct the events leading to the shooting. No motive has been publicly released, and police have not confirmed whether the victim and suspect were known to each other.
