The position includes participation in Minnesota's Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA), the state's defined-benefit pension system for municipal employees, along with the full package of benefits available to full-time city staff.

While residents often encounter building inspectors only briefly during a construction project, city officials note that their work affects virtually every structure built, remodeled, or expanded within municipal boundaries.

The selected candidate will work under the general direction of Chief Building Official Mark Brochu and will serve as one of the city's primary guardians of construction quality, code compliance, and public safety.
