Minneapolis, MN — August 25, 2025
Minneapolis police are investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred early Monday morning, resulting in two men suffering potentially life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 12:15 a.m., a blue SUV was observed traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Lake Street East, between Fourth and Fifth Avenues South. According to police, the driver first struck a male bicyclist who was riding in the bus lane. The vehicle then collided with a male pedestrian crossing the street.
Both victims were transported to Hennepin Healthcare with injuries considered potentially life-threatening. Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured the incident, showing the bicyclist being struck and thrown into the air before landing on the ground.
The driver fled the scene, and no arrests have been made. Authorities have since recovered the SUV and are actively following leads to identify the driver.

Local business owner Rodolfo Trujillo, whose establishment's surveillance cameras recorded the incident, described the driver's speed as "at least 40 mph" and expressed hope that the driver would come forward.
The Minneapolis Police Department continues to investigate the crash, and authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the driver responsible.
