BLAINE, MN — The Blaine Police Department and the City of Blaine have issued a reminder to residents that all non‐emergency city offices and facilities will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28, 2025. The city will resume regular business hours on Monday, December 1, 2025.

Closures and Service Impact

The following city locations will be closed for the holiday period:

  • Blaine City Hall
  • Blaine Public Works administrative offices
  • Mary Ann Young Center (MAYC)
  • Police Administrative Offices (records, non‐emergency inquiries)

The City’s holiday schedule confirms that both Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday are observed as city office closure days.

Public Safety & Essential Services

While administrative offices are paused, public safety, emergency response, and essential public works functions remain active. The police department emphasises that officers will be on duty throughout the holiday period to ensure community safety. For emergencies, residents are urged to call 911.

Public Works staff will also be ready to respond as necessary to urgent issues — including water system breaks, critical maintenance, or road safety concerns — even while the main administrative offices are closed.

Mary Ann Young Center — senior programming paused

The Mary Ann Young Center, located at 9150 Central Avenue NE, Blaine, serves as a focal hub for older adults in the community, offering meals, social events, and program activities.

With offices closed on Thursday and Friday of the holiday week, regular senior programming and the noon dining service will be suspended for those two days.

Local context and community note

The City of Blaine’s holiday calendar lists both November 27 and November 28 as city‐wide closures for Thanksgiving observance.
Additionally, the city highlights ongoing community events scheduled around this time — for example, there is a local “Harvest Hustle” event at the TPC of the Twin Cities typically on Thanksgiving morning.

What residents should know

  • If you require permitting, licensing, in‐person services, or program access, plan ahead: offices will be closed and resume Monday, December 1.
  • While non‐emergency services are suspended, emergency and essential operations continue.
  • Older adults and other residents who use the Mary Ann Young Center’s offerings should note the temporary suspension of services on Nov. 27–28.
  • For heating, utilities, or road safety issues during the holiday weekend, residents should contact the appropriate on‐call service lines rather than expect standard administrative access.
