BLAINE, Minn. — The Blaine Police Department issued 34 citations in a single overnight enforcement sweep, sending a clear message: the city’s winter parking rules are being strictly enforced. The crackdown comes shortly after the seasonal ban went into effect on November 1, highlighting the city’s commitment to keeping streets clear for municipal snow removal operations.

Under Blaine City Code Sections 82‑151 and 82‑152, motorists must follow two primary restrictions from November 1 through April 1:
City officials stress that these rules ensure plow crews can operate safely and efficiently, while also keeping driveways, sidewalks, and emergency routes accessible. In previous winters, vehicles left on streets have slowed snow removal and created safety hazards for residents and emergency responders.
The recent wave of citations demonstrates the city’s zero-tolerance approach. Violators may face fines, potential towing, and impound fees, with the vehicle owner responsible for all associated costs. Under Blaine’s ordinance, repeated violations may also be treated as misdemeanors, carrying additional penalties.
Officials urge residents to utilize private driveways and off-street parking whenever possible and to remain attentive to local updates on snow events and street-clearing schedules.
The recent citations serve as a stark reminder that winter parking enforcement in Blaine is serious. Officials say cooperation ensures safer streets, faster plowing, and fewer headaches for residents as the winter season unfolds.
