COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MN (June 3, 2026) Law enforcement agencies across Minnesota are asking for the public's assistance in locating a Columbia Heights man who has been missing for several days and may be without medication needed to manage an ongoing medical condition.
The Columbia Heights Police Department, working in coordination with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), has issued a regional missing person alert for 32-year-old Matthew Timmons, who was last seen after leaving his residence on Friday, May 29.
Authorities say concern for Timmons has intensified as investigators continue searching for information about his whereabouts. According to information released by the BCA and Columbia Heights Police, Timmons left home driving a Ford Explorer bearing Minnesota license plate TAB-299 and has not been located since.
Law enforcement officials say Timmons has a medical condition and does not have access to his prescribed medication, a circumstance that has elevated the urgency of the search.
While investigators have not publicly disclosed the nature of the medical condition, public safety officials frequently note that missing person cases involving interrupted access to medication can become increasingly serious as time passes, particularly when a person's location remains unknown.
According to information released by authorities, Timmons' last known location was along the Interstate 35 corridor near Dundas, Minnesota, a community in Rice County approximately 50 miles south of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
The Interstate 35 corridor serves as one of Minnesota's primary north-south transportation routes, extending from the Twin Cities toward southern Minnesota and Iowa. Investigators have not indicated whether Timmons remained in the area after the reported sighting, and it remains unclear whether he may have continued traveling elsewhere within Minnesota or beyond state lines.
As the search enters another day, law enforcement agencies are encouraging residents throughout the region, particularly motorists traveling along Interstate 35, to remain alert for both Timmons and the vehicle he was driving.
Authorities have distributed the following description:
• Name: Matthew Timmons
• Age: 32
• Height: 6 feet 1 inch
• Weight: Approximately 175 pounds
• Hair: Brown
• Eyes: Brown
Officials have not released information regarding what Timmons was wearing when he disappeared, nor have they disclosed a possible destination or circumstances surrounding his departure.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension's Missing and Unidentified Persons Program assists local law enforcement agencies in disseminating information when vulnerable adults or individuals facing potential health or safety concerns cannot be located. In cases where medical needs are involved, authorities often rely heavily on public awareness and citizen tips to help establish a timeline and generate investigative leads.
For families of missing individuals, the first several days are often among the most challenging, as investigators work to reconstruct travel patterns, review available evidence, and determine the person's last confirmed movements.
Columbia Heights Police are urging anyone who may have seen Timmons, observed the Ford Explorer with Minnesota license plate TAB-299, or possesses information that could assist investigators to contact law enforcement immediately.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or contact the Columbia Heights Police Department at 763-427-1212.
As of Wednesday, authorities had not released additional information regarding Timmons' whereabouts or indicated that he had been located.
This remains an active missing person investigation.
MinneapoliMedia will continue monitoring updates from the Columbia Heights Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
Anyone who believes they may have seen Timmons is encouraged not to delay contacting law enforcement.
