Humane Society Seeks Help After 42 Animals Seized From Fridley Pet Rescue

The Animal Human Society (AHS) is seeking help in the form of donations and adoptions after the seizure of dozens of animals from a Fridley pet rescue.

Describing it as a "heartbreaking case of neglect," the group says it worked with multiple law enforcement agencies to remove 42 dogs, cats and other animals from Happy Tails Rescue late last month.

According to a Thursday Facebook post, the animals "endured poor medical care and inadequate living conditions" at the facility:

AHS said the following about the state of the animals at the time of rescue:

The organization says the animals are receiving expert medical care at AHS, though donations are still needed to house and treat them. AHS says it will match all donations, "dollar-for-dollar."

According to the Star Tribune, 11 of the animals seized are now up for adoption, though more will become available as more room opens up on the adoption floor.

The paper also notes that officials found 15 dead cats and dogs at Happy Tails, which is still under investigation over the incident.

AHS says police have been investigating the rescue since February following a tip about animal maltreatment.

You can make a donation and inquire about adoption at the AHS website.
