Multiple months of negotiations between the city of Anoka and its licensed trash haulers ended on Thursday, Aug. 29 after the council voted to deny a proposed contract for a potential switch to an organized hauling system. The city will instead put together a request for proposal and take the offer to the open market.
City staff nor council could go into the details of the contract as the ongoing negotiations were confidential due to a court order, but Council Member Erik Skogquist indicated that the pricing had not changed from an Aug. 19 proposed contract that the council also denied. He and Council Member Sam Scott were not in favor of the proposal.
