NABC Recycled Rides Donates Vehicle To New Father In Minnesota
Maurice Wilson had to rely on others to get to work, take his newborn to appointments and manage other daily tasks.
A Minnesota father’s life took a turn for the better Jan. 8 when he was presented with a reliable vehicle through the National Auto Body Council (NABC) Recycled Rides program. Maurice Wilson, from Coon Rapids, received a 2023 Nissan Altima donated by GEICO and refurbished by CARSTAR. The vehicle is set to provide him the independence needed to support his family and improve his quality of life.
“It’s hard when you have to always ask for rides, or find the money for an Uber,” said Wilson. “This gift will make a big difference in my life.”
Wilson, who was nominated by the Urban League Twin Cities, had previously relied on borrowing his boss’s truck or carpooling with coworkers to get his newborn to appointments and manage daily errands. The donated vehicle will not only alleviate his transportation struggles but also allow him to save on rideshare costs, explore better housing opportunities, and search for higher-paying employment.
The presentation was part of a ribbon-cutting event for the newest Stillwater CARSTAR location, owned by the Zerwas Group. This location joins other CARSTAR stores in New Hope, Eden Prairie and Bloomington, MN, as part of the franchisee’s growing presence in the region.
NABC Recycled Rides has been a cornerstone of community support since its establishment in 2007. By partnering with industry leaders across the collision repair field, the program has donated over 3,500 vehicles, valued at approximately $50 million, to individuals and families in need.
Additional partners in the presentation included A-Condition Wheel Service, Kline Nissan, LKQ, asTech, Central Automotive, Frankie’s Towing, Advance Auto Parts, Cars for Charity, Advanced Remarketing Services, Copart and Enterprise.
