At the Feb. 11 meeting, the Nowthen City Council voted 3-1 to start the new City Administrator hiring process by using a professional recruiting firm to conduct a search with primary City Council help. The move came amidst the recent departure of former administrator Scott Lehner in December 2024, for whom Natalie Johnson is the current interim.
The option was one of four ways that Nowthen could have filled the position. Per the agenda packet, two others were to conduct the process entirely by themselves, or enlist a human resources firm to help with the more complex parts of the hiring process, Consultant Frank Boyles wrote. The latter option would have entailed city responsibility on the part of Boyles for appointments and meeting dates.
