Among those recognized for their exemplary service were Officer Abdi Dahir, who was named Officer of the Year, and Sergeant Jennifer O'Donnell, honored as Detective of the Year. Officer Dahir's proactive approach to policing, resulting in the recovery of numerous illegal firearms and drugs, has been highlighted as part of his recognition. "Every day, our sworn and professional staff serve the city of Saint Paul with purpose, courage, honor, and respect," the Saint Paul Police Department posted on Facebook. Dahir's efforts are credited with improving the safety of the community through his recovery of 22 handguns and several thousand fentanyl pills in 2024 alone.

As for Sergeant O'Donnell, her extensive experience and meticulous work in financial crime investigations have garnered respect across the metro area. Tasked with tackling 156 primary investigations last year, O'Donnell's rigour in the field has led to successful felony charges and convictions in severe cases, including murder and robbery. Her tenacity in financial crime is particularly noteworthy, solving a case involving over $400,000. The Department shared their appreciation for her service, stating, "Thank you, Jen, for serving Saint Paul so honorably during your career."

Alongside the sworn officers, the Saint Paul Police Department also commended the efforts of Richard Bertholf, their Professional Employee of the Year. As a Data Release Specialist working in the Video Management Unit, Bertholf has been indispensable in obtaining vital video evidence for violent crime investigations. His dedication was evident in November 2024 when his efforts helped charge four suspects with eight murder-related counts. "Thank you, Richard, for never backing down on anything assigned to you," praised the Department's social media announcement.
