BROOKLYN PARK, MN — August 20, 2025 — A 32-year-old man from Coon Rapids sustained life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning in a motorcycle crash on westbound Highway 610 near Zane Avenue in Brooklyn Park.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the motorcyclist, identified as Yevgeniy Konstantinov Samaray, was riding a 2008 Yamaha FJR1300 when he struck the passenger side of a 2014 Mercedes E-Class. Following the impact, Samaray swerved right, collided with a guardrail, and came to a stop in the roadway. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Emergency responders transported him to North Memorial Health Hospital, where he was later reported to be in fair condition.
The driver of the Mercedes, 48-year-old Elvis E. Osagie of Plymouth, was uninjured. Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was lane splitting at high speeds before the crash, with some estimating speeds up to 90 mph. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating whether these factors contributed to the incident.
This crash highlights the importance of adhering to traffic laws and safety measures, especially with the recent enactment of Minnesota's lane splitting law, which allows motorcyclists to legally ride between lanes under specific conditions. Excessive speed and unsafe maneuvers remain illegal and can lead to serious consequences.
