The Anoka County Brotherhood Council In Final Outdoor Produce Giveaway of the Season at Coon Rapids Dam

COON RAPIDS, Minn. — The last outdoor produce distribution of the year will take place on Friday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park, Pavilion 3.

The free community event is hosted by ACBC Food Shelf (Anoka County Brotherhood Council), a local nonprofit dedicated to reducing food insecurity and supporting families across Anoka County.

What to Expect

The distribution is open to everyone, and there is no fee to enter the park. Volunteers will hand out fresh fruits and vegetables at no cost, while supplies last. Organizers recommend that attendees bring a cart or wagon to make carrying items easier.

In addition to food distribution, the event will feature community resources for residents of all ages, helping connect families to local services and programs.

the Organizers

ACBC Food Shelf holds produce distributions twice a month during the growing season to supplement its year-round food shelf services. The nonprofit’s mission is to provide healthy food choices for individuals and families while preserving dignity.

Beyond seasonal produce events, ACBC also offers:

  • Weekly food assistance for those experiencing homelessness
  • Summer meal programs for children
  • A wide range of other food support services for Anoka County residents

Event Location

The event will be held at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park (9750 Egret Blvd NW), a popular local destination on the Mississippi River. The park features walking and running trails, picnic areas, and scenic views of the dam.

Why It Matters

Events like this not only provide fresh, healthy food to families who need it but also strengthen community ties. With rising food costs affecting many households, ACBC’s work ensures that residents can access nutritious produce without financial strain.
