ANOKA COUNTY, MN — November 9, 2025 — A major infrastructure improvement project is set to bring new traffic signals, safer pedestrian crossings, and smoother pavement to a busy stretch of Round Lake Boulevard (County State Aid Highway 9) in Anoka County.
The project—led by Anoka County in partnership with the Cities of Andover and Anoka—will reconstruct and upgrade aging signal systems, modernize pedestrian facilities, and rehabilitate pavement along the corridor from 135th Avenue NW (Roosevelt Street) to 149th Lane NW.

The improvements target six intersections along Round Lake Boulevard between 135th Avenue NW and 143rd Avenue NW:
According to Anoka County officials, the signal upgrades are designed to improve safety, enhance traffic flow, and align with state and federal accessibility standards.
Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2026, pending final design approvals and coordination among local jurisdictions. The improvements will coincide with nearby transportation investments—including the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) ongoing Highway 10 reconstruction between Hanson Boulevard and Round Lake Boulevard, which includes bridge repairs and interchange improvements continuing through 2026.
Anoka County encourages residents, businesses, and commuters to stay informed through its “Construction Weekly” publication and project webpage, which provide regular updates on construction schedules, lane closures, and traffic impacts.
The project is part of the county’s broader strategy to maintain roadway durability, enhance traffic operations, and improve safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians across the region.
