ANOKA COUNTY, Minn. — November 9, 2025

As Veterans Day approaches, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is marking the week with a powerful show of gratitude. From November 4 through November 11, the department’s Andover office is illuminated green as part of the national Operation Green Light for Veterans campaign—an initiative honoring those who served and raising awareness of the resources available to veterans and their families.

Operation Green Light—also known as “Greenlight a Vet”—is a nationwide effort led by the National Association of Counties (NACo) in partnership with County Veteran Service Officers (CVSOs). The initiative invites all 3,069 U.S. counties to light buildings and landmarks green during Veterans Week as a visible symbol of appreciation, hope, and renewal.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, which expressed support for veterans who have “served our country with honor,” said the green lighting also serves to spotlight key resources at the county, state, and federal levels—including VA health care, education benefits, home loans, job placement, and mental health services.

“From November 4–11, our Andover office will be illuminated green to show support for veterans and raise awareness around the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to assist veterans and their families. Thank you to all who have served our great nation!”

The color green symbolizes hope, renewal, and forward movement—values that deeply resonate within the veteran community. By joining Operation Green Light, Anoka County stands alongside hundreds of participating counties across the nation to remind veterans that their service is seen, valued, and never forgotten.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to switch one exterior light to green between now and Veterans Day (November 11) and to share photos of their displays on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenLight.
