BLAINE, Minn. — The Blaine Police Department (BPD) is launching a new community outreach initiative, Pickleball with the Police, inviting residents to meet officers in a relaxed and friendly setting over the increasingly popular paddle sport.
The inaugural event is set for Sunday, October 12, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lexington Athletic Complex (4375 121st Avenue NE, Blaine). Residents of all skill levels—from seasoned players to those trying pickleball for the first time—are encouraged to participate.
The department described the event as an opportunity to “connect with your local officers, enjoy some laughs, and maybe even score a few points against the pros (or at least us trying to be).” The initiative is designed to foster conversation, build trust, and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community in a casual, welcoming environment.
This event complements other BPD outreach programs, such as Coffee with a Cop, which aim to create meaningful engagement between officers and residents outside of traditional policing contexts.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to check in and warm up. For updates or additional information, residents can follow the Blaine Police Department on social media or visit the City of Blaine’s official website.
