Former Minnesota State Trooper Pleads Guilty to Federal Child Pornography Charges

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A former Minnesota State Trooper has pleaded guilty in federal court to producing and distributing child pornography after investigators discovered videos showing him sexually assaulting an infant while in uniform.

According to court filings, Jeremy Francis Plonski, 42, entered the guilty plea Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis to one count each of production and distribution of child pornography. Prosecutors stated that additional counts will be dismissed at sentencing. Plonski remains in federal custody as he awaits that sentencing, which has not yet been scheduled.

Details of the Offenses

Federal investigators said Plonski produced the videos while wearing both his Minnesota State Patrol and U.S. Army Reservist uniforms. Authorities confirmed that the videos depicted Plonski sexually assaulting an infant, and that he later transmitted the recordings to another user through the messaging platform Kik.

Court documents show that Plonski was indicted earlier this year on four counts related to the production and distribution of child pornography. The U.S. Department of Justice said the crimes were uncovered during a broader federal operation targeting child exploitation offenses.

He had also been charged separately in Scott County District Court with first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a child under the age of 14 — a case that remains active at the state level.

Official Response

Following his arrest, the Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that Plonski’s employment had been terminated. In a statement, Colonel Christina Bogojevic underscored the agency’s stance on accountability, saying:

“No badge, no title and no position will ever place anyone above the law. Protecting the vulnerable is our duty. Anyone who violates that duty has no place in this organization or in our profession.”

A federal judge previously ordered Plonski to remain in custody, citing the gravity of the charges and potential danger to the community.
