Tri-City Police Committees Join Forces for Collaborative Community Engagement Meeting

Last night, the Coon Rapids Police Department hosted a joint meeting featuring multicultural advisory committees from three Minnesota cities, underscoring a strong commitment to collaborative community engagement and public safety.

The Coon Rapids Police Department's Building Relationships in a Diverse Great Environment (BRIDGE) Committee welcomed representatives from the Maplewood Multicultural Advisory Committee and the Saint Louis Park Police Multicultural Advisory Committee for a shared session focused on fostering dialogue, understanding, and trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

According to a statement from the Coon Rapids Police Department, the meeting highlighted the “importance of working together to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.” Participants described the gathering as inspiring, noting it provided an opportunity to build stronger connections, exchange ideas, and explore strategies to enhance community-police relations across all three cities.

The BRIDGE Committee, established by the Coon Rapids Police Department, works to enhance engagement with culturally diverse populations, offering guidance to the department on outreach, communication, and inclusive community practices. The committee’s mission is to strengthen understanding and trust through dialogue, relationship-building, and collaborative initiatives (Coon Rapids BRIDGE Committee).

During the event, the Coon Rapids Police Department also announced an active recruitment drive for the BRIDGE Committee. Residents who live, work, or attend school in Coon Rapids and are interested in contributing to the committee’s mission are encouraged to apply through the city’s official website. Applicants must undergo a background check as part of the selection process.

This collaborative meeting reflects a broader commitment by local law enforcement to build inclusive, safe, and connected communities through cooperation, mutual respect, and shared dialogue among neighboring cities.
