A man was fatally stabbed and a juvenile male was seriously injured during a violent early morning incident at a St. Anthony apartment complex on Saturday, January 10, 2026, a crime that prompted a multi-agency response and culminated in the suspect’s arrest in Duluth after a vehicle pursuit and crash.

Early Morning Stabbing at Equinox Apartments

At approximately 5:01 a.m., officers with the St. Anthony Police Department were dispatched to the Equinox Apartments, located at 2812 Silver Lane, following reports of a stabbing inside the building.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male who had suffered fatal stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile male was also found with serious injuries consistent with a stabbing and was transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. Authorities have not released an update on his condition.

Witnesses initially indicated that the suspect may still have been inside the building, prompting a coordinated law enforcement response. Police issued a temporary shelter-in-place order for nearby residents while officers secured the scene and conducted a search with assistance from regional law enforcement partners, including a SWAT team. The shelter-in-place was later lifted after investigators determined the suspect had fled prior to officers’ arrival.

Suspect Flees Statewide Search and Northern Minnesota Chase

Investigators soon learned that the suspect had fled the scene in a stolen vehicle and was traveling north through Minnesota. An alert was issued to law enforcement agencies statewide as authorities tracked the suspect’s movements and believed he may be attempting to reach Lake County along the North Shore of Lake Superior.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., deputies with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect vehicle in the Lakeside neighborhood of Duluth. When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the suspect fled, leading officers on a pursuit northbound along North Shore Drive.

The chase ended shortly thereafter when the suspect crashed the vehicle near the intersection of North Shore Drive and Homestead Road. The suspect attempted to flee the crash site on foot but was apprehended a short distance away by responding officers.

During the incident, a St. Louis County deputy was involved in a collision with the suspect’s vehicle and sustained minor injuries. The deputy was treated at a local hospital and later released.

Investigation Continues

The suspect was taken into custody and has since been transferred back to the St. Anthony Police Department for further investigation. As of Saturday evening, authorities had not released the suspect’s name, the identities of the victims, or potential criminal charges.

Law enforcement officials also have not disclosed a motive for the attack or the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the victims.

The investigation remains active, with St. Anthony police working in coordination with state and regional agencies to complete the case and prepare it for potential prosecution.
