The observance of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, held April 19 through April 25, included recognition of local organizations that provide services to individuals affected by crime.
Victim Support Partnerships

Department officials identified several community partners involved in victim advocacy and support, including Alexandra House, Inc., HOPE 4 Youth, Stories Foundation, Eckberg Lammers, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, and the Anoka County Attorney's Office Victim/Witness Services.
According to the department, these organizations provide a range of services, including advocacy, emergency shelter, legal support, youth services, and assistance navigating the criminal justice process. National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is observed annually to raise awareness of victims’ rights and the resources available to support recovery.
Officer Swearing-In

The department also held a swearing-in ceremony this week for three new officers. Thomas Shields, Jackie Groshens, and Braden Olmstead took their oaths of office in the presence of family members, colleagues, and department staff.

Family members participated in the badge-pinning tradition following the oath, marking the formal start of each officer’s service.

Department Operations
Officials indicated that the addition of new officers supports ongoing public safety operations and staffing needs. New recruits typically enter a field training process before transitioning into full duty assignments.
The department noted that both community partnerships and staffing levels are key components of service delivery and public safety efforts within the city.
