FRIDLEY, MN (May 13, 2026) Two Columbia Heights residents have been arrested in connection with a weekend highway shooting in Fridley that left an adult woman critically injured while a juvenile passenger rode inside the targeted vehicle, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspects were identified as 38-year-old Cordaryle Frank-Allen Frost and 37-year-old Cynthia Victoria Frost, both of Columbia Heights. Authorities confirmed the pair were arrested Monday, May 11, following an investigation into the shooting that occurred Saturday night near the interchange of Interstate 694 and University Avenue Northeast.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 9:03 p.m. on May 9 to reports of a shooting involving vehicles traveling northbound on University Avenue NE near Interstate 694. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Fridley Police Department, Columbia Heights Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, and Allina EMS.

Investigators said an adult female was driving an SUV northbound on University Avenue NE when an occupant of another vehicle opened fire. The victim was struck in the neck by gunfire that penetrated the vehicle window.

Following the shooting, the SUV veered off the roadway and came to rest near the Interstate 694 ramp area. First responders rendered medical aid before the victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Authorities later confirmed the woman had stabilized but remained hospitalized as of the latest public update.

A juvenile girl was also inside the SUV at the time of the shooting. Investigators said the child was not physically injured despite bullets striking the vehicle.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that Cordaryle Frost and Cynthia Frost had been taken into custody and booked into the Anoka County Jail pending formal charges.

According to jail and investigative records, the suspects are currently being held on probable cause allegations that include attempted murder, drive-by shooting, and first-degree assault causing great bodily harm. Formal charging decisions remain pending through the Anoka County Attorney’s Office.

Authorities have not publicly identified a motive for the shooting, and investigators have not disclosed whether there was a prior relationship between the suspects and the victim.

During the initial response, portions of the roadway near the interchange were temporarily shut down as investigators searched for shell casings and collected evidence connected to the shooting scene.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Fridley Police Department, and Minnesota State Patrol continue to investigate the case. Anyone with information related to the shooting is encouraged to contact Anoka County Non-Emergency Dispatch at 763-427-1212.
