MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Brooklyn Park Man Charged in Two Armed Home-Invasion Sexual Assaults

BROOKLYN PARK, MN (July 24, 2026). Hennepin County prosecutors have charged a 25-year-old Brooklyn Park man with multiple felonies in connection with two armed home invasions and sexual assaults reported one week apart.

Darius Olson-Baker is charged with eight counts of criminal sexual conduct and two counts of first-degree burglary, according to court information reported Thursday.

The charges follow a coordinated investigation involving the Brooklyn Park Police Department, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Secret Service.

Brooklyn Park police arrested Olson-Baker at approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, after SWAT officers and detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 7600 block of Hampshire Avenue North.

Police said the suspect’s mother assisted authorities in bringing him out of the residence without further incident. Olson-Baker remained in custody Thursday night.

First attack reported July 17

The first home invasion was reported during the early morning of Friday, July 17, in the 7600 block of Hampshire Avenue North.

The woman told investigators that she awoke shortly before 5 a.m. and discovered a masked man carrying a firearm inside her bedroom. According to the allegations described in news reports, the intruder restrained the woman, demanded money and sexually assaulted her.

Investigators said the residence appeared to have been entered through an unlocked door.

Second assault prompted intensive search

Police responded at approximately 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, to another home in the 7500 block of Jersey Avenue North, about one mile from the first reported attack.

The second woman told police that a man entered her home at approximately 5:30 a.m., held a firearm to her head and sexually assaulted her. The assailant left before she called 911.

Police searched the surrounding neighborhood but did not immediately find him. Investigators subsequently established a dedicated task force, canvassed approximately 40 blocks and went door to door seeking surveillance footage and other information.

Before the arrest, Police Chief Mark Bruley urged residents to lock their doors, review home security recordings and report anything that could help investigators.

Investigators eventually identified Olson-Baker as a suspect and obtained the search warrant that led to his arrest.

Prosecutors must prove the charges

The criminal complaint contains allegations that have not yet been proven in court. Olson-Baker is presumed innocent unless and until he is convicted.

Police have said Olson-Baker had been released from prison shortly before the two alleged attacks. Additional information about that release and his previous conviction should be attributed to official corrections records before publication.
