MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Invites Young People to Explorer Information Night
ANDOVER, MN (August 20, 2026) Young people interested in law enforcement and public-safety careers can learn about the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Explorer program during an information session Thursday evening in Andover.
The session will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, 13301 Hanson Boulevard NW.
Prospective participants will have an opportunity to meet program advisers and current Explorers while learning about the activities, expectations and educational opportunities associated with the program.
Law Enforcement Exploring is designed to introduce young people to policing and related public-safety careers through structured instruction, practical exercises, community service and interaction with law-enforcement professionals.
Activities offered through an Explorer program may include instruction involving patrol procedures, traffic enforcement, investigations, communications, teamwork and professional conduct. Specific Anoka County program activities, eligibility requirements and participation expectations will be explained during the meeting.
The program is educational and does not make participants sworn officers or give them law-enforcement authority.
Explorer programs can help students evaluate whether a career in policing, corrections, emergency services or another criminal-justice field matches their interests. They can also provide experience involving leadership, responsibility, communication and public service.
The Sheriff’s Office has encouraged interested young people and their families to attend, meet the advisers and ask questions before deciding whether to apply.
The meeting location is:
Anoka County Sheriff’s Office
13301 Hanson Boulevard NW
Andover, MN 55304
The Sheriff’s Office’s main telephone number is 763-324-5000. Additional information is available through the official Anoka County Sheriff’s Office website.
