MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Victor Caratini’s Walk-Off Single Lifts Twins Over Yankees in 13 Innings
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (September 17, 2026). Victor Caratini delivered a pinch-hit single in the bottom of the 13th inning Wednesday night, scoring Luke Keaschall and giving the Minnesota Twins a 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees at Target Field.
The game repeatedly shifted in extra innings. New York took leads in the 10th and 11th, but Minnesota answered on both occasions before Caratini ended the game in the 13th.
Keaschall finished with three hits, two runs and an RBI. Ryan Kreidler added a solo home run as the Twins improved to 71-81.
Minnesota starter Zebby Matthews produced one of the strongest performances of the night, holding the Yankees scoreless for six innings while recording eight strikeouts.
New York forced extra innings when Anthony Volpe hit a two-run double in the ninth. The Yankees later loaded the bases with nobody out in the 12th but failed to score after reliever Travis Adams induced a double play and recorded a strikeout.
Tommy Nance pitched a scoreless top of the 13th and earned the victory. Aaron Judge left the game in the sixth inning because of leg tightness, adding a health concern for a Yankees team fighting for postseason position.
The victory did not erase Minnesota’s losing record, but it gave the Twins a resilient win against one of the American League’s strongest teams after they surrendered a late lead.
