Diamond Eddie Manly, 18, was found shot dead inside a vehicle this past weekend.
A fundraiser has been launched to help the family of an 18-year-old man who was found fatally shot inside a vehicle in Ramsey, Minnesota on Sunday.
Diamond Eddie Manly, of Brooklyn Park, was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound around 8:30 a.m. while responding to a report of a person slumped over inside a vehicle in the 14600 block of Snowy Owl Street Northwest.
The Anoka County Sheriff's Office said on Monday that Manly's death is being investigated as a homicide and no arrests have yet been made.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help with the family's funeral costs and other expenses, and has $2,100 of its $20,000 goal as of Tuesday morning.
A spokesperson for Champlin Park High School said Manly was a senior at the school.
His mother told FOX 9 he emigrated from Liberia in 2018 and had made several friends in Brooklyn Park. She described him as "humble" and "respectful."
"Our school community extends our deepest sympathy to his family and the students, families and staff members who knew him," a statement from the school reads.
“Please keep Diamond’s support network in your thoughts as they work through this challenging time. Champlin Park High School is committed to the wellbeing of our students and the support of their mental health needs as we work with our parents and guardians as partners in this effort.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Anoka County non-emergency dispatch at 763-427-1212.
