Connect with City Leaders at "Meeting in the Park"
An upcoming "Meeting in the Park" offers Coon Rapids residents a prime opportunity to engage directly with city staff and elected officials. This informal gathering is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Parkside Park, located at 700 99th Avenue.
These "Summer in the City Neighborhood Meetings," as they are sometimes known, are designed to bring local governance closer to the community, allowing residents to ask questions, voice concerns, and provide feedback in a relaxed outdoor setting. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions and ideas for the betterment of the community.
"Stir Crazy" to Rock Coon Rapids Dam Concert Series
Music lovers are invited to enjoy an evening of live entertainment as the band "Stir Crazy" takes the stage at the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park. The concert is part of the popular Summer Concert Series and will kick off at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025. "Stir Crazy" is known for their lively performances covering radio rock hits from the 1960s to the 1990s, promising a nostalgic and energetic night for all ages. The concerts are free to attend, and parking at the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park performance pavilion (9750 Egret Blvd.) is also complimentary for the evening. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the outdoor show.
"Touch a Truck" Returns to Riverdale Village with Expanded Fun
Families with young enthusiasts of large vehicles will delight in the return of the "Touch a Truck" event at Riverdale Village. Scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, this free, hands-on event allows children and adults alike to explore a variety of impressive vehicles up close.
Expected vehicles include emergency response vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars, alongside public works equipment like electrical lift trucks, garbage trucks, and snowplows. Beyond the vehicles, the event promises a host of family-friendly activities, including a bouncy house, balloon artist, face painting, airbrush and henna tattoos, and caricature drawings. Safety demonstrations will also be provided by Connexus Energy, offering valuable educational insights.
The "Touch a Truck" event is not just about fun; it also serves as a fundraiser for local nonprofits. Attendees can enter raffles with prizes, with 100% of the proceeds going to organizations like Toys for Joy, which supports families during the holidays, and Shop with a Cop, which empowers local foster youth through back-to-school shopping experiences with officers from Coon Rapids and Andover.
