Weather Delays Riverwind Park Pickleball Court Resurfacing

Coon Rapids, Minn. — Aug. 19, 2025 — Pickleball players in Coon Rapids will need to wait a little longer before returning to the courts at Riverwind Park (11708 Bittersweet St. NW).

City officials announced Monday, Aug. 18, that resurfacing work at the outdoor courts has been delayed after rain and high humidity on Friday prevented the new surface from curing properly. The courts will remain closed until conditions are dry enough for crews to complete the project.

The courts were originally scheduled to close Aug. 11–15 for resurfacing, a weather-dependent project. While the City had hoped to reopen them on Aug. 18, the weekend’s conditions forced a change of plans.

Riverwind Park is a popular destination for the sport, hosting pickleball leagues, instructional classes, and open play sessions. Updates on the reopening will be posted on the City of Coon Rapids Parks & Recreation pickleball webpage and official social media channels.
