Fresh Flavors and Local Finds: Coon Rapids Farmers Market Returns September 3

On Wednesday, September 3, the Coon Rapids Ice Center parking lot will once again transform into a hub of fresh food, handmade goods, and community connection as the Coon Rapids Farmers Market returns for its midweek gathering.

From 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., visitors can browse rows of stalls filled with late-summer produce—sweet corn, ripe tomatoes, and crisp greens—along with berries, honey, homemade jams, and freshly baked breads. Local artisans and crafters will also be on hand, offering everything from hand-poured candles to unique cottage foods.

“It’s not just about shopping,” one longtime marketgoer shared at last year’s season. “It’s about supporting neighbors and catching up with friends. There’s a real sense of community here.”

A growing tradition

Organized by the Anoka County Growers Association, the market has become a seasonal tradition in Coon Rapids. Running each Wednesday from mid-June through early October, the event offers residents a chance to buy directly from the people who grow and make the products. For many families, it’s also a weekly outing—an opportunity to grab dinner ingredients while enjoying the relaxed, neighborly atmosphere.

More than produce

While fresh vegetables remain at the heart of the market, organizers have worked to expand the experience by welcoming artists, crafters, and cottage bakers. Each week brings something new—whether it’s hand-knit goods, garden flowers, or unique kitchen creations. This mix of vendors ensures that even repeat visitors find something different to enjoy.

Calling local vendors

For those interested in becoming part of the market, the City is still inviting vendors—especially non-produce sellers—to join the lineup. From hobby bakers to professional artisans, there’s room for small businesses and creative entrepreneurs to share their work with the community. Vendor information is available online or by contacting City staff at 763-767-6524.
