Twin Cities Organizations Host Free Food Distributions for Community on Saturday

BROOKLYN CENTER/COON RAPIDS, MN — Local community organizations are providing Twin Cities families with vital food and resources this weekend. Task Force Community and Spirit of Matthew 25 have announced free food distributions on Saturday, October 11, 2025, aiming to help residents facing food insecurity.

Brooklyn Center: Task Force Community Weekly Distribution

Task Force Community will hold its weekly food distribution at 6040 Earle Brown Dr., Brooklyn Center, MN 55430, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m., while supplies last. Attendees may pick up food for up to two family members by completing a short form.

The organization encourages community members to share the announcement with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and church groups. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with distribution, and supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Task Force Community’s ongoing mission focuses on supporting immigrant and low-income families, reducing hunger, and addressing food insecurity in the region.

Coon Rapids: Matthew 25 Free Drive-Thru Groceries

Simultaneously, Spirit of Matthew 25 will host its 2nd Sunday Drive-Thru Give-Away in Coon Rapids. The distribution, open to all with no sign-up required, will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., while supplies last.

The available items often include produce, pantry staples, bread, bakery goods, and protein when donations allow. The distribution will follow these procedures:

  • Parking lot opens at 11:30 a.m., with volunteers directing traffic.
  • Drivers are asked to open trunks before reaching the distribution tables for faster loading.
  • Households needing food for more than one family may return through the line a second time.
  • Walkers and bicyclists are asked to enter through Door A.

The drive-thru is hosted at a site associated with Coon Rapids United Methodist Church. Contact information: Tammy@CoonRapidsUMC.org, 763-755-6990, or visit spiritofmatthew25.org.

Both organizations emphasize that food is available while supplies last, reflecting the variable nature of donations. Community members are encouraged to arrive early to secure resources.

These events underscore the ongoing efforts by Twin Cities organizations to combat hunger and support local families, combining volunteer efforts, community donations, and outreach programs to address food insecurity across the metro area.
