Anoka City Fifth Annual Community Cleanup Unites Anoka Residents and Local Leaders

ANOKA, MN – The collaborative spirit of Anoka was on full display this past Sunday, October 12, 2025, as Councilmember Sam Scott and Mayor Erik Skogquist led the city’s fifth annual community cleanup event.

Dozens of residents gathered at Sunny Acres Park (3399 Colfax Ave) for the two-hour effort, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, removing debris and revitalizing the park. Volunteers were provided with trash bags, rubber gloves, and water to support the cleanup, and depending on turnout, the effort extended to other city parks.

The annual initiative highlights the commitment of Anoka’s leadership and residents to maintaining clean, welcoming public spaces. By engaging the community directly in these efforts, the event fosters a shared sense of pride and ownership among citizens.

In recognition of their efforts, Todd and Jackie of MaGillycuddy's of Anoka offered a complimentary drink—choice of a domestic beer, soft drink, or bottled water—to all volunteers, underscoring local business support for civic engagement.

The event reflects a growing tradition of public service in Anoka, bringing residents and city officials together to enhance the community they call home.
