COON RAPIDS, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is advising motorists of a major weekend closure on Highway 10 in Coon Rapids as crews complete repairs on the southbound Round Lake Boulevard bridge. The work marks one of the final phases of the ongoing Highway 10 improvement project.
Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, October 17, both directions of Highway 10 will be closed at Round Lake Boulevard.
The closure also affects both directions of Round Lake Boulevard at Highway 10. In addition, the outside lane of eastbound Highway 10 will be reduced to a single lane between Round Lake Boulevard and Hanson Boulevard.
According to MnDOT, the closures are necessary to remove falsework — a temporary structure used to support and shape concrete — and to restripe the bridge deck as repairs near completion.
“The end of this project is in sight,” MnDOT said in a statement, noting that these weekend closures will bring the project one step closer to full completion.
Detour Information
All closures are expected to be lifted, and the roads reopened by 5 a.m. Monday, October 20, weather permitting.
MnDOT is encouraging drivers to plan ahead, follow signed detours, and allow extra time to reach their destinations as crews work through the weekend.
