Winter Parking Restrictions in Effect in Coon Rapids

COON RAPIDS, MN — The City of Coon Rapids has announced that its winter parking restrictions are now in effect, with the aim of keeping streets clear and safe throughout the coming months.

According to a Civic Alerts notice posted by the city on October 30, 2025, no vehicles are permitted to be parked on public city-streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. daily.

In addition, the ban applies when a snowfall of three inches or more is anticipated — or remains until a street has been plowed curb-to-curb.

These restrictions will remain in place through April 1, when the policy officially ends for the season.

Why the ban matters

The overnight parking prohibition and the snow-event parking ban are designed to support safe and effective snow removal. By keeping parked vehicles off the street during key hours and major snow events, plow crews can clear roadways more efficiently and completely — reducing hazards, improving access for emergency vehicles, and helping residents travel safely.

What residents should do

  • Please refrain from parking on city streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m from now until April 1.
  • If a forecast predicts 3 + inches of snow, avoid street parking until after your street has been plowed full width (curb to curb).
  • Be aware that once these conditions are met, parked cars may delay or block plow operations, and residents may be subject to further enforcement or towing.
  • Watch for other communications from the city regarding snow removal or street-parking alerts.

Bottom line

If you live in Coon Rapids, plan for winter parking restrictions and move your vehicle to avoid being caught overnight or during significant snow events. The city thanks residents for their cooperation in helping ensure safe, clear streets throughout the winter.
