COON RAPIDS, MN (October 10, 2026).
Drivers traveling through Coon Rapids are reaching an important point in Anoka County's latest round of road construction, as an intensive resurfacing operation along Main Street approaches its scheduled completion date.
The county announced that crews would work around the clock from October 4 through Saturday, October 10, to complete pavement resurfacing along Main Street, also designated County State Aid Highway 14.
The work covers the corridor from the Highway 10 bridge to approximately 500 feet east of Coon Creek Boulevard. During the operation, traffic was restricted to one lane in each direction, creating the potential for significant delays along a heavily traveled route.
Although October 10 was identified as the scheduled endpoint for this phase, motorists should not assume that every restriction has been lifted without confirmation from the county. Construction schedules can change because of weather, site conditions or remaining work.
The county is also preparing to begin another transportation project on Monday, October 12, along Hodgson Road in Lino Lakes.
That project includes accessibility improvements to sidewalks at the Hodgson Road and Birch Street intersection, minor traffic signal improvements and pavement resurfacing. Anoka County expects the work to continue through October 31.
The sidewalk improvements are particularly important for pedestrians and people with mobility disabilities, for whom intersection design and accessible crossings can determine whether a route is usable.
Taken together, the projects reflect continuing investment in the county's transportation infrastructure, but they also require motorists and nearby residents to plan for temporary inconvenience.
Drivers should reduce speed in construction zones, watch for workers and equipment, and check official notices before traveling.
