COON RAPIDS, MN (October 11, 2026).
The Coon Rapids Fire Department scheduled its annual community open house for Saturday, October 10, at the city's new Fire Station 3, bringing fire prevention education and emergency response awareness into a setting designed for families.
The event, held from 10 a.m. to noon at 3150 111th Avenue NW, featured opportunities to explore fire trucks, tour the station, practice using a fire hose and observe safety demonstrations. Organizers also planned refreshments and a possible Minnesota State Patrol helicopter visit, weather permitting.
Beyond introducing residents to firefighters and emergency equipment, the annual event reflects the department's broader effort to help households understand fire risks and prepare for emergencies.
For families, fire prevention begins with practical measures: working smoke alarms, escape plans, safe cooking practices and conversations with children about what to do when an alarm sounds.
The city has not yet published attendance figures or a post-event account. MinneapoliMedia will continue following the department's public education efforts.
