BLAINE, Minn. — The City of Blaine will introduce a Junior Citizens Academy this October, offering high school students a hands-on look at public safety careers and daily operations.
The free, two-day program will be held over MEA break on October 17–18, 2025. Participants will spend one day at the Blaine Police Department and another at a fire station with the Spring Lake Park–Blaine–Mounds View Fire Department. Activities will include demonstrations, interactive exercises, and career exploration. Lunch will be provided both days.
The academy is open to students in grades 9–12 who either live in Blaine or attend school in the city, including Blaine High School, Centennial High School, and Spring Lake Park High School. Enrollment is limited to 24 students.
Organizers note that the program also introduces students to Blaine’s Public Safety Cadet Program, a pathway for young people considering careers in law enforcement or fire services.
Applications are available through the City of Blaine’s website. For more information, students and parents may contact the city at communityoutreach@blainemn.gov .
